Meet Laura Barnhart

Marriage & Family Therapist , MC , LMFT

I know from personal experience how difficult it can be to make the decision to enter into counseling.  Many years ago I was in a relationship that was not working for me and as a last resort, I began counseling.  It was through that experience that I realized how beneficial a therapeutic relationship could be.  I made the decision to enroll in the University of Phoenix master of counseling program with an emphasis in marriage, family and child therapy.  I had already received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Anthropology from the University of Arizona and I felt that this would be a perfect complement.   I began my internship doing home based therapy and the first family I met with was a family of seven people.  I began to learn a lot about family dynamics right away!  After several years working with children and families in their homes and in their schools, I decided to begin a private practice and work with clients in the office.  The work that I did in people’s homes helped me to formulate good questions about what was going on outside of the office.

As a nearly native Tucsonan, I am committed to staying in this community and doing my part to help where I can.  I have been in private practice for 12 years and continue to have passion for my work.  I hope that the information you have read here will help you to make the decision that is best for you.
